"Agent Orange Mississippi Style"

1969, 2008. Kodachrome digitally enhanced and printed.

Franklynn was "dusted" by this plane which led to his discovering that the same chemical that made the Vietnam War's Agent Orange so toxic was a key ingredient in cotton defoliation sprays. Frank soon turned his research into nationally published exposes.

"Cost of Copper"

Miles wide, a mile deep, the Anaconda mine has ravaged the Utah landscape for decades as workers blast, load and haul ore by the train carloads hourly. That silvery caterpiller object near the left-center is a train of about 25 car loads.

"Clean Coal"

West Virginia steel plant burning clean coal and clean coal derivative coke to turn iron ore into steel and air into emphysema.

Stop Those Alaska Pipe Lines,”

This alledgedly underground pipeline requires top-of-the-ground steel cooling units such as these. Here, it comes out of the ground (left foreground) and passes over the once unspoiled Alaskan tundra permafrost and into once beautiful mountains (background).
